Cittadarti is a residency project whose outcome is the creation of a board game that is also about building relationships, centered on the twin themes of creativity and territory. For the town of Jesi, the director and playwright Lorenzo Mori will bring together a group of townspeople to work together to design a game that will be created from scratch (materials, rules, props, etc.) and, once it is finished and ready, he will invite the entire community to play the game in public.
The game: eSCI
Consisting of a map of the town and a deck of “damnation” cards, eSCI is played by the members of six teams – “arte”, “artigianato”, “industria”, “turismo”, “sport”, and “agricoltura/ambiente” (‘art’, ‘artisanal crafts’, ‘industry’, ‘tourism’, ‘sport’, and ‘agriculture/environment’)- who follow a course to find places that are both well-known and well-cared for and ones that are degraded and forgotten, thus becoming active citizens whose memory becomes a spendable currency. The object of the game is to creatively reconfigure the town map, so as to plan new ways of utilizing public and private spaces.
Lorenzo Mori is the Director of the theatrical center, Riverrun, in Cagliari, Sardinia. He has worked in the theater for over 20 years, interacting with new generations, especially, on a quest for new stimuli and visions of reality.
