Jung in writing

How to overcome the so called “blank page panic”? Alike all art forms, also writing has its tools to ease the creative process, helping the aspiring writers in transforming an idea into an efficient narration.

The workshop offers the participants tools to structure a story starting from the study of Jung’s archetypical models and the hero’s journey.

Contents:

The Archetypes: how to build a character starting from a universal model

The hero’s journey: how to structure an idea into a story.

Length of the workshop: about 18 hours

Day interior

In the landscape of writing, the screenplay is a unique case. Differently from literature it was born to be translated into a different language – such of the director- and has to follow strict rules. Within this apparently close system there’s space to express ones own creativity in building three dimensional characters and emotional involving narrations.

The workshop leads the participants in the narrative universe of the screenplay

Contents:

What am I telling? The Concept, the basic idea of the story.

Why am I telling it? The Theme, the question behind the story.

Who am I telling about? The Characters: archetypes and fatal flow.

How am I telling it? The Screenplay: structure in three acts, the bend of transformation of the character, format, dialogues and stage directions.

Length of the workshop: about 18 hours

Guide for the pilot

Since some years TV series have been representing a particularly rich research environment for authors of stories, enabling narrative experimentations that can find breath only in long term narrations: protagonists closer to real life; adaptations of novels rich in events and characters; genre contaminations.

Because of its long term nature, the process of thinking for a TV series can’t be left to improvisation. The workshop proposes a focusing path and thematic research aimed at the organic structuring of a TV series.
